Session: Records Retention and Defensible Disposition

Policy program elements and strategies to defensibly dispose of legacy information.

Information Governance and Records Management Programs require a comprehensive policy framework, supported by records retention schedules, which inform how information is managed and for how long it is retained.  In addition, organizations need strategies to defensibly dispose of legacy information, which often lacks sufficient detail needed to apply an explicit records retention category and related disposition rule, or the sheer volume makes this largely manual process impractical and too costly.  This session will provide an overview of the necessary policy and retention schedule elements and will suggest strategies to defensibly dispose of legacy information and records
